Most asked
What's the difference between ESG assurance and an ESG audit?
An audit typically checks compliance against a stated standard at a point in time. Assurance is broader: it verifies that the underlying evidence supports the claims a company is making publicly, on an ongoing basis, so the report can withstand scrutiny from investors, ratings agencies and regulators, not just a single reviewer.
When should a company start preparing for ESG ratings agency scrutiny?
At least two to three quarters before a scheduled review, not after the questionnaire arrives. Ratings agencies increasingly expect a visible evidence chain and year-over-year consistency, both of which require lead time to build if they don't already exist.
